Blackpool CCG is reminding patients that their GP appointments can be arranged in just a few clicks.

Patients may not be aware that GP practices in Blackpool now offer registered patients the chance to book appointments online.

Dr Amanda Doyle, a Blackpool GP and chief clinical officer at NHS Blackpool CCG, said: “Online services do not replace traditional ways of contacting your GP practice, over the phone or in person. They simply offer additional ways to interact with your GP, making it easier and more convenient. For example, in most cases you can book and cancel appointments any time of the day; practices also offer the opportunity to order repeat prescriptions and look up your medication online too.”

In return, it’s hoped the services will free up phone lines for people with no internet access, and enable GP practices to manage appointments and telephone calls more efficiently.

Your GP practice should have notified you of their online services but if you are unsure you can search online for their website or use the NHS Choices services search which lists which GPs offer online appointment booking. NHS Choices services search
