Fit2Go is being delivered as part of Altogether Now – a legacy for Blackpool, the multi-partnership programme between the NHS in Blackpool (Clinical Commissioning Group and Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust), Blackpool Football Club and Blackpool Council. The aim of Altogether Now is to improve the health and wellbeing of every person in the town, with Fit2Go specifically targeting key stage 2 pupils.
Funded by NHS Blackpool and the Premier League/Professional Footballers Association Community Fund, and delivered by Blackpool FC Community Trust, Fit2Go involves a range of activities delivered in school and community settings to young people and their families.
The Fit2Go team are currently in the final round of classroom delivery. Each class receives the healthy lifestyle programme for two hours, consisting of an educational classroom session and fun physical activity, delivered over a six week term.
This year’s delivery will conclude with family workshops and visits from Blackpool FC players in July after which every primary school in Blackpool will have received the full programme and Fit2Go will have hopefully helped to influence the lifestyles of the pupils and their families in a positive way.
