Open forum event for the consultation on the clinical policy for cosmetic procedures

As part of the ongoing review of clinical policies for all the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in Lancashire and South Cumbria, we are now seeking feedback on the revised clinical policy for the commissioning of cosmetic procedures.  Currently each CCG has a number of smaller cosmetics related policies and these have been revised and amalgamated into one overarching cosmetics policy.

We are now seeking views and comments from patients, the public and other stakeholders.  The main proposal arising out of the revised policy is that the CCG will not routinely fund any cosmetic procedures or treatments that have the primary purpose of changing the appearance of a part of the body.  Only cosmetic procedures where the intended purpose is to address a functional or medical problem would receive funding. A copy of the draft policy and the level of change document are attached to this email.

To help gather feedback on the policy we will be holding an open forum event for members of the public to attend to discuss the policy.

The event will be held at South Shore PCT  Lytham Rd, Blackpool FY4 1TJ on Thursday 7 December from 5pm-6.30pm.

Governing Body Meetings

Our Governing Body meetings are held in public to provide an opportunity for you to hear important decisions that are made about which health services the CCG commission in order to maintain the highest standards of patient care. Future meeting dates as well as an agenda and papers can be found here.

Members of the public are also invited to submit questions, which relate to the meeting agenda, in writing prior to the meeting.  This can be done by contacting the Secretary to the Governing Body via email: or in writing to Governing Body secretary at NHS Blackpool CCG, Blackpool Stadium, Seasiders Way, Blackpool, FY1 6JX.

It is important to note that although Governing Body meetings are held in public, they are not ‘public meetings’.
