Following the completion of a review of stop smoking provision in Blackpool, a decision has been made by Blackpool Council to decommission this service as the contract reaches its contract end date.
This decision was based on a number of factors including;
- A review of stop smoking service provision has taken place which has shown that services are not meeting the needs of people in Blackpool communities
- Public sector budget cuts
The service will begin to wind down and the last date for new referrals will be the 30th June 2017 to allow for the 12 weeks support to be provided to these users.
It is the future aim that stop smoking support will be delivered in a way that best meets the needs of the Blackpool community going forward.
If anyone requires stop smoking advice and support on stopping smoking, they should contact their local pharmacist, GP Stop Smoking Service, or the Smokefree National Helpline on 0300 123 1044.
