NHS Blackpool Clinical Commissioning Group represents 21 GP practices and works on behalf of the people of Blackpool, commissioning – or purchasing – health services for the local community.

We also work closely with our neighbours, Fylde and Wyre CCG, on healthcare across the Fylde Coast along with many other local partners. You can read about our partnership work in greater detail further on in our Prospectus.

Our member practices have elected eight GPs to the CCG Governing Body, which oversees decisions, making sure money is spent wisely and that services for the people of Blackpool are the best possible.

Our Governing Body Chair is a Lay Member. This means that he brings specific expertise and experience to the role as well as his knowledge of the local community. Our Chief Clinical Officer is a local GP.

All our Governing Body members have local knowledge and genuine interest in ensuring excellent, cost-effective services are delivered with care and compassion in our community.

They include:

  • An additional three Lay Members
  • Chief Operating Officer
  • Chief Finance Officer
  • Chief Nurse
  • Secondary Care Doctor
  • Director of Public Health

The Chairman of Blackpool Council’s Health and Wellbeing Board and a Healthwatch representative also attend our Governing Body meetings. These are held in public and you are more than welcome to attend.
